　　定冠詞的用法

　　1）表示特定的或上文已提到過的人或物。

　　I am very interested in the film.

　　2）表示世界上獨(dú)一無二的東西。

　　the earth, the moon, the sun, the world,

　　3）用在序數(shù)詞。形容詞最高級(jí)及對(duì)兩人或物進(jìn)行 比較時(shí)起特定作用的比較級(jí)前。

　　The second story, the largest room

　　He is the taller of the two children in his family.

　　4）用在由普通名詞構(gòu)成的國家，黨派等專有名詞前以及江，河，湖，海，山川，群島的名詞前。

　　theUnited  States,  the Communist party ofChina,

　　the Changjiang River, the Great Lake,

　　the Rocky Mountains

　　5）用在形容詞前表示一類人。

　　the poor (rich, old, young, sick, dead, new , blind ,wound)

　　6） 特指某人或某物。

　　Give me the book.

　　Who is the girl you just said hello to?

　　7）在姓氏復(fù)數(shù)形式前，表示全家人，或這一 姓氏的夫婦倆。

　　The Turners are sitting at the breakfast table.

　　8）用在單數(shù)可數(shù)名詞前，表示一類人或事物。

　　The horse is a useful animal.

　　The brain is the center of thought.

　　9）演奏樂器的名稱前通常用定冠詞。

　　Do you like to play the piano or the violin?

　　10）指世紀(jì)或世紀(jì)的某個(gè)年代前。

　　In the 1870’s, when Marx was already in his fifties…..
